making new things (FoxCat identity crisis)

beginnings of a new range?
i’ve been thinking of making some little anime-style animals for a while now. (did i mention that when cj & i went to japan last year i had an emotional experience in Studio Ghibli? that’s why i couldn’t stop thinking of making this little friend)

i actually started making a couple of models in the christmas holidays & this is the beginning stage of one of them – it looks a bit like a cat now but i think it’ll end up being a fox (needs a bit of a pointier face & a fancy tail me-thinks)
i thought i’d add this piccie too – i don’t usually do wax carving first (i’m much more comfortable making in silver cause you can be a lot more precise) but christmas was spent in the country so it seemed like a perfect place to do some carving!
the different coloured waxes (green, blue, pink, beige) have different hardnesses, the green being a bit like carving plastic & the beige can almost be moulded with the heat of your hands.

  1. SO Cute!! I’m excited about the sounds of this new animal range. Right up my alley xo

  2. Very cute… or should I say, kawaii?!

I’ve been a follower of your blog for some time now, and I have to tell you that I really love your creations. Having done some very basic wax carving (VERY basic) myself, I have an even greater admiration for your skills, especially on the tiniest pieces!
