Frida Kahlo's influence has a broader reach than any other artist I know of. Her paintings, love of animals, the incredible physical pain she endured throughout her life, her tumultuous marriage to Diego & her many lovers allow a myriad people to adore her & I'm one of them. I carved this portrait of the great woman from of a block of jeweller's wax - it was approximately 100 hours before i saw her face. I have studied many images of Frida & have made this sculpture to resemble a sepia photograph, except this time she is in-the-round, turn the piece to see her profile & her hair swept up into braids at the back.
